ABOUT

For me, the saxophone is not just an instrument, it is my voice - a voice that wants to be heard. As a classical saxophonist, I bring the fascinating sound spectrum of this instrument to the stage: virtuosic, expressive and with the deepest passion. As a sought-after orchestral musician, chamber musician and soloist, my musical journey has already taken me to concert stages in Europe, China and the USA. I regularly perform in renowned concert halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Vienna Musikverein and La Seine Musicale Paris.

Orchestra musician

My career as a guest musician has taken me to numerous renowned orchestras. I work with orchestras such as the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the state orchestras of Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Mainz, Koblenz, and Hanover, the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, the German State Philharmonic Rhineland-Palatinate, the Jena Philharmonic, the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Bamberg, Düsseldorf, and Vienna Symphony Orchestras. In doing so, I have had the privilege of performing under the baton of renowned conductors such as Alain Altinoglu, Alexander Shelley, Krzysztof Urbánski, and Simone Menezes. I gained my first inspiring orchestral experiences early on in prestigious wind orchestras, including the Baden-Württemberg State Wind Orchestra, the Baden-Württemberg Wind Philharmonic, and the Federal Police Orchestra of Hanover. In addition, I was permanently employed by the State Police Orchestras of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate for a time and continue to perform there regularly as a substitute to this day.

Soloist

Performing as a soloist allows me to express the full diversity of my instrument. Particular highlights of my career so far have been the performances of David Maslanka's "Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble" and Alexander Glazunov's monumental work for saxophone, the "Concerto in E flat major op. 109" with various orchestras. It was a special honor to perform the world premiere of Moritz Laßmann's "Concerto for Saxophone(s)" together with the Junge Philharmonie Karlsruhe under the direction of Jasper Lecon. With the Rheinische Orchesterakademie Mainz under the direction of Michael Nündel, I was able to interpret Claude Debussy's "Rhapsody for Orchestra and Saxophone" in the sold-out Electoral Palace in Mainz. I also performed a special version of Philip Glass's Violin Concerto in an arrangement for soprano saxophone and orchestra together with the Orchester im Treppenhaus as part of the special concert experience "Dark Room - a polar concert in the dark" several times.

Chamber musician

Chamber music is particularly close to my heart and I am active in various formations from duo to quintet. I was a founding member of the Audax saxophone quartet and part of the ensemble until the end of 2024. I currently form the duo.klax together with pianist Danlin Felix Sheng and am part of the Aiolos Reed Quintet, an extraordinary formation consisting of oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. I received valuable impulses in ensemble work through master classes with renowned chamber musicians such as Heime Müller, Marianna Shirinyan and members of the Kuss Quartet and the Cuarteto Casals. I also found additional inspiration in working with experts such as the sound engineer Christian Starke and chamber music professors including Angelika Merkle, Hubert Buchberger and Tim Vogler.

Studies

I studied classical saxophone at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt with Simon Hanrath (Bachelor of Music) and at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg with Prof. Lutz Koppetsch (Master of Music in Performance). I also completed a second Master of Music in chamber music with Prof. Angelika Merkle at the HfMDK Frankfurt and graduated with top marks. I attended numerous master classes with internationally renowned saxophonists such as Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Branford Marsalis and Asya Fateyeva. I won prizes at various competitions and received scholarships from Live Music Now Frankfurt e.V., the Da Ponte Foundation Darmstadt, Jeunesses Musicales International and the Deutschlandstipendium.

Teaching activity

In addition to my concert activities, passing on my musical knowledge is very important to me. I have been teaching children, young people and adults of all levels on various saxophones - from soprano to baritone - for many years. Anyone interested in lessons can contact me via the contact form or by email. I am also active as a teacher for sectional rehearsals of various wind orchestras (Schwäbisches Jugendblasorchester, Sinfonisches Landesblasorchester Hessen, Landesjugendblasorchester Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz etc.).
